"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed, their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." (Bible - Isaiah 11: 6-9).

Sometimes, while listening to a beautiful symphony, or gazing up at the sky on a clear, summer night, we behold the incredible order and flawless timing which results in perfect harmony. In these glimpses of the perfection which lies beneath the surface of things, we can perceive the work of a great and vast Intelligence which is responsible for such unspeakable concord…and of a love so enduring, we can hardly imagine it.

But this intelligence and love we feel is mental and spiritual, and so is Its universe of perfect harmony. This divine Cause, or Source, is an Intelligence so unfathomable, that it doesn't have to stop until perfection is attained. It doesn't tolerate mistakes. In this divine creation, just as in the systems of music and mathematics that it contains, mistakes don't exist; because any element of destruction would break the eternal harmony and cause the universe to self-destruct.

Now, while we may mentally glimpse this invisible, underlying perfection or divine order, alignment and timing, the physical universe we perceive with our physical senses is never harmonious. In this "place," wars hide peace, storms ravage the land, diseases destroy our bodies, and even celestial fragments of matter, like asteroids, can suddenly spin out of control. In fact, nothing seems to be under intelligent control here.

Thus, we behold the false, physical assessment of things--the physical universe of material form. Here we gaze upon our perception of all things springing from a material, mindless base--matter rather than Intelligence causing all effect--the place where the perfect concepts of God have been re-created and replaced by physical formations. This is the place we call home. Here, the five physical senses allows this false sense of being to bear witness to its own creation, and only to its own creation; for neither God nor God's spiritually perfect and eternally wondrous universe is perceived by these physical faculties. It is from this physical viewpoint that we shake a finger at deity and say of this imperfect realm, "You have done this!" when, in fact, It has done no such thing.

However perfectly a symphony has been written or created, it can be read and performed discordantly. However precise the science of mathematics remains, mistakes of application of its laws and principles abound, resulting in errors in conclusion. Yet, in neither case has the flawless perfection of reality disappeared or ceased to exist. Music, when performed rightly, is still harmonic; and mathematics, when applied correctly, still results in absolute concord. In both cases, as in life itself, it is the errors that are non-existent…the discords which make no intelligent sense. Perfection is still the real; human false perceptions and mis-interpretations, the unreal.

The false material assessment or interpretation of things is all there is to that which is called satan. It is the fundamental lie over consciousness that hides the glory of spiritual actuality and all being. It is the deceiver, the liar, the trickster, the spell. It is the great imposition upon our divine rights of eternal life and love.

We don't need a personal, supernatural evil (devil) to stir up trouble and war against God; the delusion of materiality over consciousness is all we need to be miserable. God creates and always has created only good. There is only one, real Intelligence and mentality, and that is of God. This mentality belongs to every identity in existence. Yet, the lie of having been cast out of our heavenly, spiritual home, body, and true mentality, only to have been forced into a material form and universe, is all the devil we need. If accepted, all the evil we believe in will be manifested in our human experience somewhere, until we spiritually awaken to the lie. The great satan, which we fear, is the lie--the false belief--against the omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience of God.

This false, physical sense is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for there is no spiritual evil in man, woman, or creation. Evil comes into play only in the material form of things. God's lions aren't carnivorous--they lie down with the lamb. God's ivy isn't poison--it graces the land. Yet, look at what our collective, shared material concepts of these identities have produced. And God's people aren't corrupted--they are a joy! "But be ye glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy." (Bible - Isaiah 65: 18). You see, it's only the physical identity of anything that seems to be a mixture of good and evil. And that identity, as actuality, doesn't even exist, except in our belief.

Yet, the false, material, satanic sense of existence is not to be under-estimated. It is unspeakably pervasive. It imposes itself on every thought that doesn't insist on spiritual being. It tells us we are physical beings, who are, thus, mortal and bound to be sick, aging and dead. It tells we are inherently both good and evil, and so have been cast out of our spiritual home. It tells us our ever-loving Parent has exiled us from Its presence and power. It tells us that even our environment is unhealthy. And the worst lie of all it declares, is that God has done this to us, because we needed to be punished. All this is said, despite the fact that, "For in him we live and move and have our being." (Bible - Acts 17: 28).

To counteract the lies of satan (the false sense) Paul the Apostle once said this radical thing: "For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory."(Bible - I Cor 15: 53, 54). No doubt Paul knew the spiritual reality of all seeming physical identities. He must have been spiritually enlightened enough to realize that since man wasn't physical in the first place, he couldn't be mortal in the second place; that material existence, and all its conditions, is a state of self-deception. This means that spiritual, immortal and perfect being, like a principle or rule of mathematics and music, is still present to be proven, and the only reality of ourselves. The human condition is a case of mistaken identity: the mortal, physical self is the falsity--the mistaken logic and error of perception; for our true identity is our spiritual self.

Here's how this realization can alter what seems to be a physical reality of injury: About six or seven years ago, an elderly woman fell on a sidewalk which resulted in two cracks in her neck. For one week the breaks went undetected, but the pain caused her to see a doctor. Her neck was immediately x-rayed and a brace placed on her neck. She was told to come back, with her daughter, in four days for an appointment with a surgeon to assess the condition.

The daughter had practiced spiritual healing for about twenty-five years, at that time, and realized her mother wouldn't understand it. Yet, the mother agreed to let the daughter pray about the situation. The daughter's prayer took the form of truth-knowing. She knew she must see her mother truthfully, as God knew her, and that meant seeing her spiritually. So the daughter thanked God, the divine Intelligence, Wisdom, Love and Righteousness, that her mother was safe in Its keeping. She reminded herself that all creation, including her earthly mother, is spiritual in substance, eternally whole and safe in God at all times, despite physical appearances of sickness, injury or even death. She also remembered that even physical health is an illusion; for the only condition we can have is a spiritual condition, and that condition is always whole, safe, and eternally well. The daughter realized that she must stand up to any lie of physical existence and claim God as the only Creator and power in the universe. She claimed the truth of spiritual existence and God's ever-present loving control over all for her mother, for the four days before the appointment with the surgeon.

On arriving at the clinic four days later, several more x-rays were taken. When the surgeon compared both sets of x-rays, he was perplexed to see that they didn't match at all. The new ones showed no cracks or breaks in the neck. Still, to satisfy the physical sense of the doctor, the woman was told to wear the neck brace for six weeks, which she agreed to do, partly because it made her feel secure also. She was thrilled with the healing of a broken neck in only four days time. She didn't comprehend what had happened with her daughter's 'prayer', so any new sickness or injury would still cause her to seek a physical method of cure. But the daughter knew that the reality of the situation was that the physical condition had never been the woman's spiritual condition; nor had the appearance of damage to the physical form ever reached her true, spiritual form. God alone upholds reality and all within it.

The essence of the daughter's prayer had been to replace the claims of materiality within her own consciousness, with the realization of spiritual existence alone. Once her consciousness had been cleared of the mistaken view of her mother, the mother then benefited from this spiritual view held by the daughter. She benefited because the spiritual truth is always more powerful in the human experience than a false belief. Truth over-rides error. Once consciousness is cleared of the lie of physical being and replaced with the truth of spiritual being, form adjusts; intelligence always controls form and belief is always manifested into form, whether it's a health realization or sickness belief. Christ Jesus told his followers, "As thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee." (Bible - Matthew 8:13). This highlights the importance of correcting false beliefs with spiritual truth.

One instance of truth, however, doesn't proclaim and prove all truth. Every day makes its demands upon even those who practice spiritual healing regularly. It's a way of life. No one can be a constant spiritual healer for someone else. The woman's healing of her neck is permanent; she is almost 85 now, and quite well. But to handle all the falsities of the human condition takes individual spiritual knowledge and awakening; no adult should be spiritually dependent upon another. Each individual must be responsible for growing spiritually every day, until the entire lie of material existence is extinguished, and God's presence and power is felt every moment.

The false, physical sense of existence is the enemy that must be cast out of individual consciousness, before the underlying truth of God's spiritual creation, and our immortal selfhood, alters the human experience to the degree of proving death itself to be the greatest imposition of all. But with every new healing, comes a great light to the human condition. It's this light that brings evidence of health, peace, joy, and God's loving power over all. These are the celestial fruits of God's reality, reaching out to us, right where we are.
